The Course

The 2012 winter programme will get under way on the 7th of January. This first class is the foundation upon which all the subsequent classes are based, and attending this class is mandatory.
Pre-Registration for the 2012 series of classes now open and it is recommended that advantage be taken to reserve a place as early as possible.
Because the content of the classes is specific to gardening in Peel County, and is generally information which is missing from most gardening books and horticultural courses, this program is of interest both to people who have never gardened before and to those who have gardened all their lives. There is a basic core content, but the course is flexible and the classes are adjusted to address the needs and interests of the attendees.

The Cost

While we do not make a financial charge, in return for the course training, each attendee commits to contribute a minimum of 16 hours, helping in the fairground gardens during 2012. The time commitment amounts to an average of two hours per month from April to November and can be contributed at such times as an individual chooses.
Because we are using the premises of the Region of Peel Agricultural Society for the classes and are gardening on society land, for insurance purposes, it is required that everyone associated with Peel Teaching Garden also be a member of the society. The membership fee is $5.00 and this will be collected at the first class.
